Addressing the opioid epidemic and its effects in our community has been a top priority of mine since taking office 10 months ago. As a nearby resident, an ER physician at Boston Medical Center, and the neighborhood’s state representative, I see its impact every day near Mass. Ave and Melnea Cass.
I have been outspoken in my advocacy for those suffering from addiction as well as for our neighborhoods. From writing articles to discussing these issues in the media, we have and will continue to raise awareness, bring in stakeholders, and develop comprehensive solutions. I’m glad that Mass/Cass 2.0 reflects many of the ideas the community and I have been advocating for over the past few months. In addition to this new framework, we were successful in securing substantial state resources to bolster this effort. Thank you Mayor Walsh and Chief Martinez for this big step in the right direction and the community for your partnership.
